Life can be exciting, busy and fun, but it can also be very challenging at times. Sometimes all we need is to be heard, but often friends or family want to fix us, advise us and make things better. This is one of the reasons why so many of us suffer in silence, for fear of burdening people with our problems, or fear of being judged or rejected. Counselling offers an opportunity to explore your issues, in a safe, confidential space.
Humanistic counselling focuses on the client’s self-development and personal growth and personal choices. The humanistic approach provides the client with a better understanding of who they are, what they feel and helps the client improve their self-awareness and self-realisation. This involves a close counselling relationship between the counsellor/therapist and the client. Transactional analysis helps to provide a connection between a client’s past and how this may influence decisions and choices that you make today. It is especially helpful when exploring problems and issues in relationships.
Counselling can help with issues such as anxiety, depression, panic-attacks, anger issues, abuse, relationship problems, bereavement & loss, redundancy, sexuality issues, addiction, low self-esteem and childhood-related problems.
I am a qualified Humanistic Counsellor based on Transactional Analysis.
I decided to train as a counsellor after my own personal experience with counselling, during a very difficult time in my life. I found that it really helped to talk to someone who I wasn’t emotionally attached to, who was very happy to listen to my problems and happy for me to express my emotions freely. The experience was empowering, and enabled me to discover my inner resilience.
I work in a very open and transparent way with my clients. I offer a non-judgemental, supportive and empathic service, in a safe, peaceful and confidential space.
I am in private practice, and I work out of The Wellbeing Centre in Newbury, Berkshire.
In our initial session, I will carry out an assessment, which will help me to understand what it is you are struggling with currently, and to explore what you’d like to gain from counselling. It is a good opportunity for us to see if we feel we could work well together.
This is a short breathing exercise that I have recorded, to help you feel more relaxed, to relieve stress, to help you to feel more grounded/less anxious and to acknowledge the thoughts and feelings that you have without becoming overwhelmed by them. Some of my clients use this exercise outside of our sessions, as it encourages them to take a bit of time out of their busy lives just for them each day.
£50 per hour session. Payable in cash at the end of each session.

I started my work as a humanistic counsellor in a voluntary capacity, working for two charity organisations. At one charity I worked with clients with mental health issues, some of which included depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, childhood abuse, loss and bereavement, anger issues, and relationship problems.
